Dr Sahana Gupta

Miss Sahana Gupta is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Northwick Park Hospital, London.

Miss Gupta qualified from the Culcatta National Medical College in Kolkatta, India, in 1995. During her undergraduate years she developed a passion for obstetrics and gynaecology and decided to pursue a career in this subspecialty. She commenced her postgraduate training in 1997, and was awarded a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by the University of Culcatta in 2000.

Sahana was admitted to the Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2002 and started training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the United Kingdom in 2004. During her training, she completed a diploma in Family Planning. She worked for 2 years in St George’s Hospital Acute Gynaecology & Early Pregnancy Unit and was extensively trained in gynaecological ultrasound including early pregnancy problems and ovarian cancer screening. During this period, she also worked with Professor Manyonda and honed her surgical skills in advanced fibroids surgery and minimal access surgery. She participated in research programs culminating in the publication of original as well as review articles. 

She has a major interest and expertise in recurrent pregnancy loss and set up the Recurrent Miscarriage Service in the London Northwest Healthcare NHS Trust shortly after joining the Trust in 2012. She is certified in menopause care by the British Menopause Society. 

In collaboration with Professor Manyonda, Miss Gupta offers a service (in the private sector) on a wide range of procedures in cosmetic gynaecological surgery. Both received training and certification from the European College of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (ECAMS). The range of procedures offered include surgical and non-surgical vaginal tightening, perineoplasty, labiaplasty, hymenectomy, hymenoplasty, G-spot augmentation, vulval bleaching, vulval platelet-rich plasma infusion and clitoral hood reduction.

Professor Isaac Manyonda

Isaac Manyonda is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St George’s University of London and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. 

Isaac qualified as a medical doctor in 1982 after completing his studies at St George’s Hospital Medical School. He specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1987. He has been a consultant since 1994, and therefore has 25 years of extensive experience at consultant level.

In his clinical practice, he has a major interest and expertise in cosmetic gynaecological surgery, with skills in performing labiaplasty (labial reduction), vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening and re-shaping), hoodoplasty (trimming and re-shaping the clitoral hood) and vulval puffing.

He also has a national and international reputation in the management of fibroids (benign tumours of the muscle of the womb), and treats women with recurrent spontaneous miscarriage, menopausal problems and general gynaecological disorders such as heavy and/or painful menses. 

Professor Manyonda has written books and contributed to chapters in books in obstetrics and gynaecology. He has undertaken ground breaking research, much of which has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. He was awarded his professorship by the University of London on the basis of his research and publications record.

In his free time, Isaac enjoys reading, especially Russian literature, theatre, is a keen football player, and continues to hone his skills on the tenor saxophone, fervently trying to “blow” in the inimitable style of the late great John Coltrane.
